About
Since its inception, MCC Literature Club has remained one of the most active clubs in the college with different club activities within and outside the college being held every semester. The club aims to promote healthy reading culture and encourage critical thinking. It also aims to move beyond passive reading of literary texts and promote critical engagement, discussion and interpretation. The club is created with an objective to create a space where members can explore their creative faculty, express their thoughts and opinions and share their writings with a larger audience.
Objectives:
• To foster reading habits, enhance literary appreciation.
• To encourage students to express themselves through various forms of literature such as poetry, short stories, essays, and drama.
• To serves as a platform for dialogue, debate, and creative engagement with literary texts across languages and cultures.
Membership:
Membership is open to all bonafide students of the college who are interested in literature, writing, or public speaking. Interested students must register themselves on Club Registration Day/Membership Drive Day, held at the beginning of every new academic session. Membership is to be annually renewed. Members are expected to participate actively and maintain academic and ethical standards.
Structure:
The Club shall be coordinated by a faculty member composed of a Co-Ordinator, Treasurer, and two or more other faculty, and governed by an Office Bearers (OB) consisting of a Leader, Assistant Leader, Secretary, and Assistant Secretary, elected or appointed annually among the club members.
Functions:
1. Organize and participate in literary events such as book readings, poetry reading, debates, writing contests, and author interactions.
2. Encourage participation in inter-college literary fests and other competitions.
3. Promote multilingual literary engagement.
Members must respect diverse viewpoints, maintain decorum in discussions, and avoid plagiarism or offensive content. The policy will be reviewed annually for necessary revisions, if required.

MCC Literature Club Members Participate in MIPOTY Tin Anniversary Poetry Evening
Members of the MCC Literature Club, C. Malsawmzuali, 4th Semester (English) and Assistant Secretary of the MCC Literature Club, and Laltluangliana, 2nd Semester (English), participated in the Poetry Evening organized on the observation of the Mizo Poetry Society (MIPOTY) Tin Anniversary on 20th February, 2026.
The programme was held at the residence of Mrs. Miriem L. Hrangchal in Falkland, Aizawl, and commenced at 7:30 PM. During the event, both students presented poetry readings as part of the literary celebration. They were accompanied by Mr. KC Lalthansanga, Coordinator of the MCC Literature Club, who also serves as the Secretary of MIPOTY.

Club Day 2026: Literature Club
In observance of MCC Club Day, the Literature Club hosted a Book Talk at Aizawl Sumtual, aimed at encouraging literary appreciation and providing members with direct insight into the world of professional writing. The club was honored to host F. Vanlalrochana, the acclaimed author of the 2025 Book of the Year. Following the author's insightful address, members engaged in an interactive discussion session regarding the themes of the winning book, the creative writing process and current trends in the literary landscape.
The second half of the program featured a guided visit to the Mizoram State Library. Members toured various sections, gaining exposure to the library's extensive archives and specialized collections.

MCC Literature Club Presents Discussion on “Mizo Translation: P.L. Liandinga Kuthnu Zirna” on AIR
The Literature Club of Mizoram Christian College conducted a literary discussion programme on “Mizo Translation: P.L. Liandinga Kuthnu Zirna” at All India Radio (AIR) on 27 October 2025.
The discussion was presented by three members of the Literature Club — Malsawmtluangi, 5th Sem, Dept. of English; Lalhriatpuia and Lalrinawma, 3rd Sem, Dept. of Political Science — who examined important aspects of Mizo translation. The speakers focused on translation techniques, linguistic precision, cultural context, and interpretative challenges, with particular reference to the works and translation contributions of P.L. Liandinga.
The recorded programme was broadcast on 30 October 2025, allowing a wider audience to engage with scholarly perspectives on translation studies within Mizo literature.

Tryst with Poetry organised by Literature Club, MCC
On 6 February 2026, from 2:30 p.m. onwards, the Literature Club, Mizoram Christian College, organised Tryst with Poetry in collaboration with the Zo Youth Writers’ Club at Tumsir, Lower Zarkawt.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of both clubs, creating a vibrant literary atmosphere. Around twenty participants recited their poems, after which engaging discussions and question-and-answer sessions followed. The exchange of ideas, interpretations, and creative perspectives made the session lively, thoughtful, and intellectually enriching.
The programme was attended by the faculty in charge: KC Lalthansanga (Coordinator), Dr. Hannah Lalhlanpuii (Treasurer), Dr. Lalhlimpuii, and Dr. KC Malsawmtluangi.

A live radio discussion was broadcast on All India Radio, Aizawl, on 30th September, 2025; 7:00- 8:00 PM in observance of International Translation Day 2025. The panel featured Sir K.C. Lalthansanga, Dept. of Mizo, Coordinator, MCC Literature Club and Dr. Hannah Lalhlanpuii, Dept. of English.
The discussion focused on the role and challenges of translation within Mizo Literature and contemporary Mizoram. The talk also covered several critical areas related to the development and key milestones of translation efforts within the Mizo literary tradition. Participants also emphasized the crucial role of translation in facilitating both literary and cultural progress. The current state of English-Mizo and Mizo-English translation in contemporary Mizoram was also discussed, highlighting areas of success and significant gaps.
