About The Department
The Department of Commerce, Mizoram Christian College is dedicated to provide exceptional learning experience to attain academic excellence, and to create a platform for students to fulfil their career objectives in diverse fields. It is well equipped with infrastructure facilities like computer laboratory and furnished classrooms with modern communication devices.
Our department has 5 experienced and dedicated faculty members who are continuously giving efforts to make the students reach their highest potential. The number of student enrolment is also growing significantly since the inception of the college. I believe that this department will continue to work hard to make substantial contribution for the further development of this institution, for God and our country.

National Seminar on Investor Awareness Programme
Organised by: Department of Commerce, Mizoram Christian College

In observance of World Investor Week, the Department of Commerce, in collaboration with SEBI, NSE & BSE, organised a National Seminar on ‘Investor Awareness Programme’ on 7th October 2025.
Mr Samuel Lalthanliana, Assistant Professor at Government Hrangbana College and a certified trainer from SEBI - NSE & BSE, served as the resource person for the program. He addressed various topics related to the commerce curriculum, including an introduction to investment and securities markets, financial planning, the mandates of stock exchanges, and investment fraud. The session, which was attended by 44 students from the department, proved successful and fostered engaging discussions among the participants.

The Department of Commerce, Mizoram Christian College successfully conducted a National Seminar on ‘Investor Awareness Programme’ aimed at enhancing financial literacy and investment awareness among students. The programme was conducted in collaboration with SEBI and NSE.
The event featured Mr. Samuel Lalthanliana, Assistant Professor at Government Hrangbana College, who is also a certified trainer affiliated with SEBI, NSE, BSE, NISM, and NCFE, as the distinguished Resource Person.
The awareness programme was attended by 80 students from the first-semester and 2 faculty members, aligning with their academic curriculum and providing them with practical exposure to investment principles. Through the session, students gained valuable insights into various aspects of investment, including investor protection mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, and the importance of informed financial decision-making.
The session emphasized the role of regulatory bodies in safeguarding investor interests and highlighted key strategies for responsible investing. The interactive nature of the session encouraged student engagement and fostered a deeper understanding of the subject matter beyond textbook learning.
Overall, the programme served as a vital platform for bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world financial practices, empowering students to become more informed and confident participants in the investment landscape.
Department of Commerce Off-Campus Class at the Office of the Commissioner of State Tax, Registrar of Firms & Societies
On 28th August 2025, the Department of Commerce, Mizoram Christian College, organized an off-campus class where students visited the session, Commissioner of State Tax, Pu H.K. Lalhawngliana, delivered a lecture covering the process of registering partnership firms and societies, the role of the GST Council, and the current status of GST collection in Mizoram. He also concluded with an inspiring talk aimed at motivating students in their academic journey and moral life, with special emphasis on values rooted in the Christian faith.
We sincerely appreciate the warm hospitality extended to us during our visit to the Office of the Commissioner of State Tax, Registrar of Firms & Societies. The enriching lecture and insightful discussions provided by Commissioner Pu. H.K. Lalhawngliana offered our students valuable knowledge and motivation. We are truly grateful for the kind reception, thoughtful guidance, and the opportunity to learn in such a welcoming environment, which made the visit both meaningful and memorable.



Department of Commerce Off-Campus Class at the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission
The Department of Commerce conducted an off campus class for 5th semester students at the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Aizawl Tuikhuahtlang on 6th August 2025 with regards to their paper 'Business Laws'. Court hearings for 5 cases were attended. Students had insightful experiences on how grievances and disputes are handled by the consumer court.
Department of Commerce: Off-Campus Class
An off-campus class was organized for 4th Semester students on 4th April, 2025 (Friday) 1:30 pm at Startup Hub, Mizoram Startup Mission (MSUM), Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Govt. of Mizoram. The students had an opportunity to meet and interact with budding Mizo entrepreneurs, who were also winners of Mizoram Rahbi 5.0 (Startup Capital Competition):-

Apart from the entrepreneurial journeys shared by the speakers, students were also enlightened by the staff of MSUM on the various capacity building programmes, competitions,exposure activities, and facilities they can avail from MSUM. The session was concluded with presentations by our students on Indian unicorn startups.
