About The Department
As an activity Public Administration is as old as human society however as an independent discipline, it was started only in the late 19th century. The discipline involves the comprehensive examination and analysis of governmental structure and process. Public Administration acts as a catalyst for societal evolution, instrument for the execution of laws, policies and programmes that significantly influence the lives of individuals. The efficiency and effectiveness of the government are profoundly linked to the proficiency of Public Administration, which permeates every facet of human life.
The Department of Public Administration is one of the pioneering departments at this college, and it was established in 2020. Initially comprised of 2 faculty members, it now has 4 faculty members and a growing number of undergraduate students. Currently, the department offers a full-time six-semester programme based on the CBCS and NEP 2020 syllabus. Despite being one of the youngest departments among the colleges, the Department has produced a University Topper in the MZU Undergraduate Examination, showcasing its excellence and potential.
Apart from teaching the university's standard curriculum, the department also provides a range of supplementary courses such as Initium course, Peractio course, Mentoring classes, and a variety of extracurricular activities. These offerings are designed not just to equip students for professional success, but also to instil in them the qualities of responsible citizenship. Furthermore, the syllabus and curriculum are very much relevant for the students aiming to excel in competitive and job examinations.

To nurture the students to have a successful life and instil a sense of civic responsible within them.
To expand students’ understanding of theories and concepts in the discipline of Public Administration to broaden their perspective.
To enable the students to analyse the contemporary issues in Public Administration and to provide in depth insights and analysis on the process of governance.
To foster the capacity to utilize theoretical knowledge to develop creative solutions for practical challenges.

Department of Public Administration Off-Campus Class @ Mizoram Legislative Assembly Secretariat
The Department of Public Administration, MCC, organised an off-campus class on 9th September 2025 at the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Secretariat. The programme aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of Legislative Assembly administration processes.
Dr. John Lalrinawma, Deputy Secretary, delivered a lecture on parliamentary processes and assembly administration, highlighting legislative procedures, the roles of Secretariat officials, and the Assembly’s function as a forum for discussion, deliberation, and decision-making in democratic governance followed by an interactive session which added direct academic relevance to courses taught within the Department especially in the areas of Indian Administration and Local Governance.
This programme enriched students’ academic understanding while fostering civic awareness and appreciation of legislative institutions.
35 students, accompanied by 5 faculty members, have participated in the Programme.
