About The Department

The Department of Mizo, opened in 2020, is one of the the seven departments established by the Mizoram Synod at Mizoram Christian College. Currently, it has four teaching members and a student admission capacity of 30 per semester. Special lecture series, a'meet the author' program, and off-campus seminars have all been organized on a regular basis. Special occasions such as "World Poetry Day", "International Translation Day", and the like have also been regularly observed.

Below are the seminars and events that the department has successfully organised so far:

  1. International Webinar on Mizo Identity in 2020

  2. Culture Preservation Training in 2021

  3. International Seminar on Mizo Christian Literature in 2022

  4. Workshop on "Mizo Tawng Zir Hona" (A Study of Mizo Language) in 2024

The department is still looking forward to organizing additional seminars, workshops, symposiums, and other events to help students extend their perspectives and interests in their studies.

Faculty members frequently arrange one-on-one mentoring meetings with students in order to better understand them so that they may be more helpful to them not just in their studies but also in their personal, home, and spiritual lives. They are always willing to assist and guide recently graduated students if necessary.

The department has also established the 'Parents Teachers Association (PTA)' to foster interactions between parents and teachers in order to improve student academic achievement and development. A 'Parents Teachers Meet' is arranged at the beginning of each semester or as soon as feasible to improve connections between professors and parents so that both sides may work together for the benefit of the pupils. The Parents Teachers WhatsApp group is also maintained to facilitate communication between the staff and the parents/guardians.
