24 March 2025: Observance of International Women’s Day 2025 at Mizoram Christian College
The Mizoram Christian College (MCC) observed International Women’s Day 2025, with a special program organised by the Gender Sensitization Cell, MCC on 24th March 2025. The event is dedicated to celebrating women's achievements and raising awareness on important issues such as gender equality, women’s rights and empowerment. It is a call to action for accelerating gender parity and promoting a future where no one is left behind.
This year’s global theme, ‘Accelerate Action’, underscored the urgency of advancing women’s rights and promoting inclusivity. The program was graced by Dr. Lalrinawmi Ralte as the keynote speaker. A distinguished scholar and advocate for women's rights, Dr. Ralte holds multiple academic qualifications, including BA, BD, STM, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Theology. She is a recipient of prestigious honors such as the Nirbhaya Award (2018) and the Zakapa Award (2023) in recognition of her exceptional contributions to women's empowerment and social justice.
In her inspiring speech, Dr. Ralte emphasized the need for collective efforts to accelerate progress towards gender equality in education, the workplace, and the society. She emphasized the need for gender inclusivity in all spheres of life, reflecting on the progress made and the challenges that remain. In her address, Dr. Ralte also highlighted the role of education in shaping a more inclusive future. She encouraged students to actively contribute to a positive change and strive for excellence, and break barriers that hinder women’s empowerment.
Dr. Ralte further elaborated on this year’s theme, stressing the importance of taking concrete actions to bridge the gender gap, promote equal opportunities, and address persistent challenges such as gender-based violence, pay disparity, women’s rights and underrepresentation in leadership roles.
The observance of International Women’s Day 2025 at MCC was deeply impactful, making a profound and lasting impression on all the attendees.
