Department of Management Off-Campus Class at ICSSR-NERC Workshop

On 28th August 2025, the 1st Semester BBA students of the Department of Management participated in the ICSSR-NERC sponsored workshop on Media, Garbage, and the Environment as part of their off-campus class at MZU. The session featured a felicitation ceremony honoring two Emmy Award winners from Mizoram, Mr. H.C. Vanlalruata and Mr. Isaac Zoramsanga, who received the prestigious award for their outstanding contribution to BBC’s short-form documentary Myanmar’s Civil War. The session also felicitated Mr. Andrew Lalchhandama, the first Mizo in forty-three years to qualify for the Indian Information Service (IIS).

The workshop was led by Dr. Sayan Dey, Department Chair of English Studies, Bayan College (affiliated with Purdue University Northwest), Oman. The session offered a deeper understanding of the intersections between media, waste, and the environment, greatly enriching the students’ academic exposure. The workshop held particular significance for the students as they closely align with their course on Business Communication. Through collaborative exercises, presentations, and group discussions with both local and international participants, students gained practical exposure to effective communication, cross-cultural interaction, and the role of media in shaping public discourse. All the participants were awarded certificates of participation, recognizing their active involvement in the workshop. The Department extends its sincere gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to be part of such an enriching and rewarding experience.
