MCC Literature Club Presents Discussion on “Mizo Translation: P.L. Liandinga Kuthnu Zirna” on AIR

The Literature Club of Mizoram Christian College conducted a literary discussion programme on “Mizo Translation: P.L. Liandinga Kuthnu Zirna” at All India Radio (AIR) on 27 October 2025.

The discussion was presented by three members of the Literature Club — Malsawmtluangi, 5th Sem, Dept. of English; Lalhriatpuia and Lalrinawma, 3rd Sem, Dept. of Political Science — who examined important aspects of Mizo translation. The speakers focused on translation techniques, linguistic precision, cultural context, and interpretative challenges, with particular reference to the works and translation contributions of P.L. Liandinga.

The recorded programme was broadcast on 30 October 2025, allowing a wider audience to engage with scholarly perspectives on translation studies within Mizo literature.

Mizo Department Off Campus Class & Peractio at Mizoram University

The Department of Mizo, Mizoram Christian College, organized an Off-Campus Academic Visit on 12 February 2026 for the 6th Semester students as part of experiential and extension learning activities. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing students’ academic exposure beyond classroom instruction and providing practical engagement with literary and cultural resources.

The students were accompanied by all faculty members of the Department of Mizo, Mizoram Christian College. The first phase of the visit was to the Department of Mizo, Mizoram University, where the students explored the Museum, Art Gallery, and Departmental Library. The visit enabled the students to examine archival materials, literary collections, and cultural artefacts related to Mizo heritage and literature. Faculty members facilitated academic discussions during the visit, helping students contextualize the exhibits and resources in relation to their syllabus and research orientation.

The exposure provided an opportunity for students to gain firsthand knowledge of institutional resources available for higher studies and research. It also encouraged academic motivation among the outgoing semester students who may pursue postgraduate education.

Subsequently, the group visited the ongoing construction site of the MCC building at Tanhril. The purpose of this visit was to familiarize students with the infrastructural development of the College and to create awareness regarding institutional growth and expansion. The students observed the progress of construction and were briefed on the future academic facilities planned for the new campus.

The Off-Campus Academic Visit was successful in achieving its objectives. It strengthened institutional collaboration, promoted experiential learning, and enhanced students’ academic and institutional awareness. The programme reflects the Department’s commitment to holistic education and quality enhancement in teaching–learning practices.

On February 12, 2026, the Department of English organized an Off-campus Class for 6th Semester students at Sumtual, MINECO. The program was designed to provide a unique learning environment, moving beyond the traditional confines of the classroom to create a different educational experience for the students.

The session featured a short talk by Dr. Lawmsangzuali, who addressed the critical theme of Nature Conservation, emphasizing on the strategic utilization of local resources and indigenous knowledge systems.

The talk was followed by interactive academic exercises where students participated in a series of curated educational games and quizzes. These activities were designed as a comprehensive review, covering core syllabus components from the 1st Semester through the current 6th Semester. This interactive format allowed students to test their proficiency.

The off-campus class successfully met its goals, providing the students with a refreshing perspective on their studies while highlighting the importance of environmental consciousness.

Agripreneur Club Signs MoU with Vincenicho Pvt. Ltd.

The Agripreneur Club of Mizoram Christian college entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Vincenicho Private Limited (Vinco Farm) on 10th February 2026 with the objective of strengthening academic collaboration in the field of agriculture and agribusiness. The partnership aims to provide practical exposure, entrepreneurial guidance, skill development opportunities to students interested in agripreneurship, provide students with exposure to agribusiness activities, facilitate internships, training, and field visits and to promote entrepreneurial skills among students.

Tryst with Poetry organised by Literature Club, MCC

On 6 February 2026, from 2:30 p.m. onwards, the Literature Club, Mizoram Christian College, organised Tryst with Poetry in collaboration with the Zo Youth Writers’ Club at Tumsir, Lower Zarkawt.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of both clubs, creating a vibrant literary atmosphere. Around twenty participants recited their poems, after which engaging discussions and question-and-answer sessions followed. The exchange of ideas, interpretations, and creative perspectives made the session lively, thoughtful, and intellectually enriching.

The programme was attended by the faculty in charge: KC Lalthansanga (Coordinator), Dr. Hannah Lalhlanpuii (Treasurer), Dr. Lalhlimpuii, and Dr. KC Malsawmtluangi.
