International Translation Day Observed by Mizo Department, MCC

The Department of Mizo, Mizoram Christian College, observed International Translation Day on 26th September 2025 at the College campus. Dr. Lalnunpuia Renthlei, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mizo, Pachhunga University College, served as the resource person. He is the first and only scholar to conduct research in translation studies among the Mizo.

Although International Translation Day is officially on 30th September, the College had scheduled its 2nd Internal Test on that date, and therefore, the event was preponed. Following the special lecture, faculty members and students engaged in a lively discussion and interaction with the resource person, making the programme both meaningful and engaging.

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON INVESTOR AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The Department of Commerce, Mizoram Christian College successfully conducted a National Seminar on ‘Investor Awareness Programme’ aimed at enhancing financial literacy and investment awareness among students. The programme was conducted in collaboration with SEBI and NSE.

The event featured Mr. Samuel Lalthanliana, Assistant Professor at Government Hrangbana College, who is also a certified trainer affiliated with SEBI, NSE, BSE, NISM, and NCFE, as the distinguished Resource Person.

The awareness programme was attended by 80 students from the first-semester and 2 faculty members, aligning with their academic curriculum and providing them with practical exposure to investment principles. Through the session, students gained valuable insights into various aspects of investment, including investor protection mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, and the importance of informed financial decision-making.

The session emphasized the role of regulatory bodies in safeguarding investor interests and highlighted key strategies for responsible investing. The interactive nature of the session encouraged student engagement and fostered a deeper understanding of the subject matter beyond textbook learning.

Overall, the programme served as a vital platform for bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world financial practices, empowering students to become more informed and confident participants in the investment landscape.

Political Science Peractio Course "Effective Communication"

As part of the Peractio Course, the Dept. of Political Science organized a special lecture for their 5th Semester Students on the topic: 'Effective Communication', focussing on helping the students develop their public speaking and communication skills.

The session was led by resource person, Lalramliana Varte from Stage Ready, who brought a practical, hands-on approach to teaching the students, the art of speaking confidently and effectively in front of an audience.

English Department Off Campus Class "Beyond the Page"

English Department Off Campus Class "Beyond the Page"

The Department of English conducted an off-campus class titled 'Beyond the Page' at Tumsir, The Book Cafe Aizawl extension, Lower Zarkawt, on 24th September 2025. The session was attended by students from all semesters within the department.

The off campus class was organized with an aim to encourage students' creativity and facilitate the discussion of their academic syllabus from a new perspective and in a different setting. It also served as a platform for students to gain exposure to different syllabus across various semesters.

The event featured student-led activities, including poetry readings from their original composition and musical performances based on the 5th Semester Popular Literature syllabus followed by brief discussions on global and local Popular Culture. Mr. Vanlalruata, the owner of Tumsir, gave a short talk where he provided an insightful discussion on Mizo youth and popular culture, emphasizing the importance of contextualizing contemporary issues and events. The talk also included the need for open discussion and debates in the current social environment.

The event successfully provided a unique and engaging opportunity for students to connect their academic studies to real-world contexts and to share their creative talents.

Department of Sociology Off-Campus Visit & Interaction Session at ICFAI University Mizoram (IUM)

Department of Sociology Off-Campus Visit & Interaction Session at ICFAI University Mizoram (IUM)

The Department of Sociology, Mizoram Christian College visited IUM Department of Sociology on 10.09.2025 and had a fruitful off-campus visit along with interaction session. The students and faculties from both the institutions had a meaningful interaction and discussion session at the auditorium which was chaired by Miss Lalrindiki, HoD, Department of Sociology, IUM and Sir Lalmuansanga, MCC also delivered short motivational speech to the students. Placement drive was also done by Mr. Hmangaihzuala, Placement Officer and the event ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. Catherine Lalhruaitluangi, IUM.

The Department of Sociology, along with three other departments of the University organized a programme in collaboration with Alora on the occasion of “World Suicide Prevention Day.” Resource persons enlightened the audience with various steps to overcome stress and other mental health conditions and role play was also held.
