VIKSIT BHARAT STATE-LEVEL YOUTH PARLIAMENT 2025

26th March, 2025 : The State-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 was successfully organized on March 26, 2025, at the Cultural Center-cum-Auditorium, Vaivakawn, Aizawl, Mizoram. The event was hosted by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Mizoram, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Mizoram.

The event was graced by Pu Malsawmzuala Ralte, Chairman, Mizoram Youth Commission, as the Chief Guest. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Benjamin L. Saitluanga, Programme Coordinator of the NSS Cell, Mizoram University. This was followed by an introductory speech by Pu Lalramsanga Sailo, IRS, Secretary, Sports & Youth Services, Mizoram. The highlight of the inaugural session was the speech delivered by the Chief Guest, emphasizing the role of youth in shaping a developed and progressive India. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Mercy Sellate, State Director, NYKS.

Prior to this state-level event, district-level selections were conducted on March 21, 2025, across selected district headquarters. After the inauguration, 40 outstanding candidates, selected from various districts of Mizoram, competed at the state level. Participants deliberated on two crucial topics:

1. 75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Journey of Rights, Duties, and Progress

2. The 11 Sankalp of Samvidhan Divas: A Pledge to Strengthen India's Constitutional Values

After a rigorous evaluation by the panel of judges, the following three winners were selected to represent Mizoram at the National-Level Youth Parliament, to be held at the Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi in April 2025.

3. Vanlalremruatpuii (Saitual)

The Mizoram Christian College (MCC) observed International Women’s Day 2025, with a special program organised by the Gender Sensitization Cell, MCC on 24th March 2025. The event is dedicated to celebrating women's achievements and raising awareness on important issues such as gender equality, women’s rights and empowerment. It is a call to action for accelerating gender parity and promoting a future where no one is left behind.

This year’s global theme, ‘Accelerate Action’, underscored the urgency of advancing women’s rights and promoting inclusivity. The program was graced by Dr. Lalrinawmi Ralte as the keynote speaker. A distinguished scholar and advocate for women's rights, Dr. Ralte holds multiple academic qualifications, including BA, BD, STM, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Theology. She is a recipient of prestigious honors such as the Nirbhaya Award (2018) and the Zakapa Award (2023) in recognition of her exceptional contributions to women's empowerment and social justice.

In her inspiring speech, Dr. Ralte emphasized the need for collective efforts to accelerate progress towards gender equality in education, the workplace, and the society. She emphasized the need for gender inclusivity in all spheres of life, reflecting on the progress made and the challenges that remain. In her address, Dr. Ralte also highlighted the role of education in shaping a more inclusive future. She encouraged students to actively contribute to a positive change and strive for excellence, and break barriers that hinder women’s empowerment.

'Musical Poetry Festival’ on World Poetry Day 2025

World Poetry Day, observed annually on 21st March, was proclaimed by UNESCO in 1999 to recognize poetry as a means of promoting linguistic diversity and cultural dialogue. Across the world, this day is celebrated in various ways, including public readings and performances, workshops and competitions, musical and theatrical adaptations and social media engagement, among others.

Here at the heart of Aizawl, World Poetry Day was observed as Musical Poetry Festival, jointly organized by the Department of Mizo, PUC, and the Mizo Poetry Society (MIPOTY). The event brought together literature enthusiasts, poets, and students from various colleges and localities to celebrate the beauty and power of poetry.

Actively participating in this festival, the Department of English & Mizo, Mizoram Christian College, joined the celebration at Pachhunga University College on 21st March 2025. The following students showcased their talents and contributed to the success of the festival:

As an undertaking under MCC Art & Music Club, Mizoram Christian College participated at the College Painting Competition in observance of the 28th International Day of Action for Rivers with the theme: “Our Rivers, Our Future”. The competition was organised by the Irrigation & Water Resources Department in collaboration with the Mizoram Art Development Society.

There were a total of 32 participants.
