Department of Management: Industrial visit to LAILEN Consulting Pvt. Ltd.

On 11th April 2025, the Department of Management, Mizoram Christian College (MCC) organized an industrial visit to LAILEN Consulting Pvt. Ltd., a pioneer IT consultancy and software development firm in Mizoram known for its expertise in strategic business solutions and technology-driven services.

The visit aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices, providing students with valuable exposure to real-world business operations.

The Department of Management, MCC extends its gratitude to LAILEN Consulting Pvt. Ltd. for their hospitality and for offering such a valuable learning experience. The visit was highly informative and enriching, encouraging students to think beyond textbooks and offering practical insights into the consulting industry, product development, and business startup ecosystem.

Department of Commerce: Off-Campus Class

An off-campus class was organized for 4th Semester students on 4th April, 2025 (Friday) 1:30 pm at Startup Hub, Mizoram Startup Mission (MSUM), Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Govt. of Mizoram. The students had an opportunity to meet and interact with budding Mizo entrepreneurs, who were also winners of Mizoram Rahbi 5.0 (Startup Capital Competition):-

• Juliet Lalnuntluangi, NEMP Logistics

• ⁠Jason Lallawmzuala, R&K Industry

• ⁠TC Lallawmkima, TC Seeds

• ⁠Malsawmtluanga, Biofarms Mizoram

Apart from the entrepreneurial journeys shared by the speakers, students were also enlightened by the staff of MSUM on the various capacity building programmes, competitions,exposure activities, and facilities they can avail from MSUM. The session was concluded with presentations by our students on Indian unicorn startups.

MCC won the 2nd Prize at the Chief Minister’s Bana Kaih Innovation Challenge 2025

MCC won the 2nd Prize at the Chief Minister’s Bana Kaih Innovation Challenge 2025

A team of 18 students and 6 faculty members participated in the Chief Minister’s Bana Kaih Innovation Challenge 2025 held from January to March 2025 and won the 2nd Prize of Rs. 2 lakhs on 28th March 2025 with the project ‘Rebranding Hatkora’. The CM Bana Kaih Innovation Challenge was organized by the Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Govt. of Mizoram where 26 colleges within Mizoram took part in the challenge.

MCC was assigned Hortoki village in Kolasib District as the project site. A pilot survey was conducted at the village on 31st January 2025 which was followed by a Local Immersion Programme during 5th- 8th February 2025 where the team conducted household surveys, focus group interactions and personal interviews with the locals. During this visit, the team identified several challenges and problems faced by the village of Hortoki. This was followed by a series of brain- storming sessions which resulted in the formulation of the project- ‘Rebranding Hatkora’. A Skill Development Training Programme was organized at Govt. Hortoki High School on 19th March 2025 with invited experts from Dept.of Botany, MZU.

The project aims to rebrand Hatkora fruit, a staple of Hortoki, through value addition by creating different household products with a focus on sustainable, zero- waste and community- based production.

VIKSIT BHARAT STATE-LEVEL YOUTH PARLIAMENT 2025

26th March, 2025 : The State-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 was successfully organized on March 26, 2025, at the Cultural Center-cum-Auditorium, Vaivakawn, Aizawl, Mizoram. The event was hosted by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Mizoram, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Mizoram.

The event was graced by Pu Malsawmzuala Ralte, Chairman, Mizoram Youth Commission, as the Chief Guest. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Benjamin L. Saitluanga, Programme Coordinator of the NSS Cell, Mizoram University. This was followed by an introductory speech by Pu Lalramsanga Sailo, IRS, Secretary, Sports & Youth Services, Mizoram. The highlight of the inaugural session was the speech delivered by the Chief Guest, emphasizing the role of youth in shaping a developed and progressive India. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Mercy Sellate, State Director, NYKS.

Prior to this state-level event, district-level selections were conducted on March 21, 2025, across selected district headquarters. After the inauguration, 40 outstanding candidates, selected from various districts of Mizoram, competed at the state level. Participants deliberated on two crucial topics:

1. 75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Journey of Rights, Duties, and Progress

2. The 11 Sankalp of Samvidhan Divas: A Pledge to Strengthen India's Constitutional Values

After a rigorous evaluation by the panel of judges, the following three winners were selected to represent Mizoram at the National-Level Youth Parliament, to be held at the Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi in April 2025.

1. Angela Vanlalduhsaki (Aizawl)

2. Maria Zomuanpuii (Serchhip)

3. Vanlalremruatpuii (Saitual)

The State-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 served as an inspiring platform for young voices, encouraging meaningful discussions on democracy, governance, and constitutional values. It provided the youth of Mizoram with an opportunity to contribute their perspectives towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

24 March 2025: Observance of International Women’s Day 2025 at Mizoram Christian College

The Mizoram Christian College (MCC) observed International Women’s Day 2025, with a special program organised by the Gender Sensitization Cell, MCC on 24th March 2025. The event is dedicated to celebrating women's achievements and raising awareness on important issues such as gender equality, women’s rights and empowerment. It is a call to action for accelerating gender parity and promoting a future where no one is left behind.

This year’s global theme, ‘Accelerate Action’, underscored the urgency of advancing women’s rights and promoting inclusivity. The program was graced by Dr. Lalrinawmi Ralte as the keynote speaker. A distinguished scholar and advocate for women's rights, Dr. Ralte holds multiple academic qualifications, including BA, BD, STM, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Theology. She is a recipient of prestigious honors such as the Nirbhaya Award (2018) and the Zakapa Award (2023) in recognition of her exceptional contributions to women's empowerment and social justice.

In her inspiring speech, Dr. Ralte emphasized the need for collective efforts to accelerate progress towards gender equality in education, the workplace, and the society. She emphasized the need for gender inclusivity in all spheres of life, reflecting on the progress made and the challenges that remain. In her address, Dr. Ralte also highlighted the role of education in shaping a more inclusive future. She encouraged students to actively contribute to a positive change and strive for excellence, and break barriers that hinder women’s empowerment.

Dr. Ralte further elaborated on this year’s theme, stressing the importance of taking concrete actions to bridge the gender gap, promote equal opportunities, and address persistent challenges such as gender-based violence, pay disparity, women’s rights and underrepresentation in leadership roles.
